Let’s talk about elopements!

What does eloping actually mean? A quick little myth buster: They are not for people running away to get married because they don’t have family. They are not necessarily for people who want to save money. They are not wedding days that last for only a few hours.

Eloping is an intentional, intimate celebration of marriage that’s curated by your vibe as a couple.

Elopements are wedding days that are authentically you in every way. They deserve all the attention and detail of a traditional wedding day. After all, the tradition is marriage. All the rest is whatever you want it to be. This day is about you, so I would personally like to tell you, DO YOU! It’s your wedding, the start of your future together – and your future is worth celebrating!

Now for the next bit.

How do you plan an elopement that is intentional and authentic?
Well, what do you like doing together? Hiking, road trips, picnics, camping, wine tasting, travel? Think about having a full day of doing the things you love together. You can even do something you’ve never done before! It can be with just the two of you or your closest friends and family. Yes you heard that right! Elopements can also include the few that are near and dear to you. I mainly meant the dogs, but people can come too!

Here is a sample timeline for an 8 hour elopement day in the mountains:

  • Getting Ready/Details – 1hr
  • First Look – .5hr
  • Stunning scenic drive through Blue Ridge Parkway (explore along the way) – 1.5/2hrs
  • Ceremony/exchange vows on the mountain side – .5hr
  • Black Balsam Knob – Hike/Portraits – 2/3 hrs
  • Champagne toast while you take in the day – .5hr
  • Drive back – 1hr
  • Dinner – 1hr

Fill your day with beauty and adventure. Or don’t. We’ve seen people get married in their backyards, with their friends, doing all of the backyard stuff they love doing. Set up a cool backyard theater with a projector and finish the night off watching your favorite movie. Honestly the options are endless. Just, DO YOU! And it will be perfect.
