We asked our brides what they loved most about their small wedding, and these were their answers:

“Surrounding ourselves with the most important people in our lives”

This is what makes small weddings so incredible. The people you surround yourself with on the happiest day of your lives is everything. Exchanging vows is such an intimate moment, so we definitely recommend a the guest list of only those closest to you.

“How all of your close ones contribute to making it the most special day”

Small weddings are always a team effort. We’ve seen it all, from sisters making the most incredible wedding cakes to the bride’s dad cooking up some killer steaks on his Green Egg for a backyard BBQ reception. We always feel so lucky to be part of these moments and watching families work together to make the day incredible for the bride and groom.

“No pressure on anyone and very laidback”

This was a groom’s response. The pressure of pleasing large crowds can be so overwhelming- the day flies by and you hardly get to taste the food or admire the details you put so much thought into. Everyone is expecting to have a moment with you and you hardly get a moment to yourselves. Small weddings are always much more relaxed and the bride and groom are always better able to be in the moment.

“That I remember every detail. No distractions or crowds to drown out the details of the day”

Yes. With a small wedding, you get to focus on what’s important without worrying about anyone else but yourselves. It’s your day, it should be about you.

Lastly, I got this response as well and I thought it was also important to share:

“We did not have a small wedding and I regret it. Go Small.”

I hear this often from brides that wanted small weddings but had pressure from friends and family to have a large wedding. Doing what you want is the most important thing to remember. I’m in no way saying that small weddings are better than larger ones. Both can offer incredible experiences. However, it’s my goal to spread the word that there are other options. I haven’t met anyone that regretted their small intimate wedding. So if planning a large wedding doesn’t feel right, do you.
